MCC Chicago also known as Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Center is a federal jail located at 71 W Van Buren St, Chicago, IL 60605. MCC Chicago is operated by the North Central Region of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Chicago MCC houses 600 male & female federal inmates, pretrial detainees and probation violators and those charged with Federal Crimes in the U.S. District Court For the Northern District of Illinois, who are going the trial process or awaiting sentencing, or been denied bail by a Federal Judge and deemed a flight risk or threat to the community.

Housing units normally have 4 telephones for inmate use. Inmates are allowed a maximum of 300 minutes per month January thru October, and 400 minutes in November and December. Calls are limited to 15 minutes per call. The regular cost of an inmate calls is 21 cents per minute with a 15 call costing $3.15.

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois has 2 Federal Courthouses, one in Chicago and, one in Rockford, that hold criminal and civil judicial proceeding for federal cases that originated in the following Illinois counties:
Cook, Du Page, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, La Salle, Will, Boone, Carroll, De Kalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago.

MCC Chicago Inmate Visiting
Inmate’s visits are held normally by assigned housing unit floors. Please click review the information below for specific visiting days and hours. It is suggested that visitors contact MCC Chicago by telephone at 312-322-0567 prior to visiting to verify it is your inmate’s assigned visiting day.
Social: Authorized social visitors are those persons described in governing policy. Legal guardians are considered the same as parents. Visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m.-3:00p.m., and 5:00p.m.- 8:00p.m.;Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 8:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. -3:00p.m. If a holiday falls on a weekday, the unit normally scheduled to visit during the evening hours will visit during the a.m. session (Holiday hours- 8:00 a.m. – 11 :00 a.m.).
