Larry Levine Prison News Stories

WASHINGTON, July 15 (UPI) -- Prison coaches who advise first-time offenders on what life is like
inside the big house are becoming a must for wealthy criminals, a former U.S. inmate says.
Los Angeles consultant Larry Levine, who served 10 years in prison for drug trafficking,
securities violations and distributing machine guns, offers a course that covers prison life from A
to Z, USA Today reported Wednesday.
Levine says his "Fedtime 101" helps wealthy offenders headed for jail with everything from
decoding prison lingo to avoiding assault and bad prison jobs.
Another ex-con, Steven Oberfest, bills himself as an "inmate adaptation specialist" and offers a
course in close-quarters combat.
Wall Street swindler Bernard Madoff hired the Baltimore-based National Center for Institutions
and Alternatives to prepare for his 150-year prison term, his lawyer Ira Sorkin confirmed.
Co-founder Herbert Hoelter says his company waved its fee for Madoff.
