The Madoff's -- Doing Hardtime?
April 13, 2009, 2:24 P.M.
ABC News' Stu Schutzman reports:
The extended Madoff clan is getting very nervous about doing hard time in jail. They
probably should be. Shana Madoff, Bernie's niece, and at least one other Madoff
relative are actively seeking the advice of professional prison consultants.

According to an exclusive in today's New York Post, Shana, a officer in the Madoff firm,
contacted Larry Levine, founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants.com.  The Post's
source says she intended  "to learn how to game the system so you end up in Club Fed,
not Leavenworth."  Shana, says the Post, was to the manor born and grew up on a Long
Island estate owned by her father Peter Madoff, Bernie's brother. Jail, for her would no
doubt be traumatic.
Larry Levine, who did hard time himself for
securities fraud, offers a crash course called
"Fedtime 101," which has apparently whetted
the Madoffs' interest.

"A female member of the Madoff family
contacted me," he confirmed to the
Post
"because she was concerned about her
safety." Levine added that a male Madoff
also called.
scared and confused?"  Want to go to Club Fed, want to spend less time in the
slammer? "I can help," says Levine.

In his crash course, Fedtime 101, Levine stresses that “inmates have rights."  In it he will
advise the newly convicted what to bring to prison on the first day; how to work to get
time off; how to prevent getting raped and he offers a primer on prison jargon and lingo.

And if testimony from the inside is any indication, Levine's an enormous hit.

"If you want someone to give you accurate information and guide you through a system
that's both frightening and complicated," writes Virginia, a convicted money launderer
from Chicago, "then Levine is the person to ask."

"I recommend his course to anyone entering federal custody," writes Harvey from
Seattle, convicted of wire fraud and bank fraud. "I can't thank Levine enough," writes
Daniel from Boston.

"I give people a wakeup call," Levine told the Post.  A wakeup call might be too late for
some members of the Madoff family...a get out of jail free card might be the better
alternative.
